Abstract

The safe operation of a large electrical power systems requires Operators to permanently recognize the state of their supervised network and make effective use of the available resources to face probable threats.  Situational Awareness and Real Time Contingency Analysis properly customized can become powerful aids to anticipate and perform safely during incidental events of predictable consequences.

In this paper we propose a methodology to assure effective integration and use of both of these powerful resources in the control room.

A three tier methodology; Modeling - Tuning and Customization is conceptually proposed and described based on years of experience of the authors working with Security Applications in SCADA-GMS-EMS.
