Evolución del Centro de Operaciones Una Propuesta de Esquema a las Nuevas Tendencias y Desafíos en Ecuador

Abstract

A new scheme is proposed for the shift work team in the CENACE control center, which would respond to the on-going development of power systems and the new technological trends applied to these systems.

This article is divided into four parts: Part 1 is a brief reflection on the importance of the mission held by the work team in charge of coordinating, supervising and controlling operations of the National Interconnected System (SNI for its acronym in Spanish). Section 2 is a qualitative-retrospective analysis of the National Interconnected System Control Centre’s structural development, considering the shift work and the responsibilities definition. Section 3 is an analysis of the new operation challenges for the national interconnected system, considering its increased complexity and new technologies in place for electrical power system operations. Section 4 proposes a new shift work team structure and assigns corresponding job responsibilities for an adequate system operation that is prepared to face future challenges.
