Design and Sizing of a Zig-Zag Type Transformer for Grounding in ELEPCO's Illuchi 1 Generation Plant
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this document, the technical-economic study for the specification and design of a Zig-Zag transformer for grounding of Illuchi I generation power plant, is presented. Starting with the creation of a database with the electrical parameters of the elements that are part of from the power station, a model is implemented in the Power Factory software on which power flows and short circuits are executed, the results obtained are analyzed by a DPL programmed script that determines the electrical parameters needed for the earthing transformer specification Zig-Zag. Then, the behavior of the system is verified with the connection of the Zig-Zag transformer and the system of overcurrent protections in the transmission line Illuchi I - The Calvary with the rest of the ELEPCO system is coordinated. Also, an assessment is made of the costs and benefits associated with the implementation of the grounding system using the Zig-Zag transformer. It is important to establish that a correctly selected and designed earthing system provides safety and protection both to people and to the elements of power plants.
