Abstract

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), has developed methodologies by which to determine a CO2 emission factor of a power grid. For this case study methodology ACM002 used: “Electric power generation connected to the grid from renewable sources” on version 17. [1]

In recent years Ecuador as part of its energy policy has been implemented and is developing projects mainly hydroelectric power generation, which modifies the supply of electric generating capacity matrix of the country. This changes the dispatch of thermoelectric plants to supply the demand of the National Interconnected System (SNI); it is the same in a grid the main source of CO2 emissions.

In this paper an analysis of the evolution of CO2 emission factor for the period 2016-2025, considering the estimated power generation projects proposed in the Master Plan Electrification 2013-2022 (PME 2013-2022) [2], based on available information shows the same in the electricity sector institutions.
