This project is based on activating a mobile photovoltaic system with 3 solar panels that generates an effective power of 300 W. An automatic solar tracker was designed and built with two degrees of freedom, implementing a monitoring software which keeps a historic record and allows for the creation of characteristic operating and performance curves for the parameters involved in the photovoltaic solar power system. This project makes use of the energy produced by the photovoltaic cells to transform solar energy into electricity, which is consumed locally and supplies the system itself, making it an autonomous system. DC-DC converter circuits were installed to achieve characteristic curves and proper tracker functioning. The system operates with the Perturb and Observe algorithm (Maximum Power point Tracking, MPPT) for tracking the photovoltaic system’s maximum power point.
