Abstract

This Document presents a Methodology to Identify the Areas of Voltage Control (ACV) in an electrical power system. The use of data mining and the concept of electric distance have been used in this work to identify the ACV in a power system for different probabilistic scenarios of system operation considering N-1 contingencies, which were formulated by Monte Carlo simulation. ACV identification in power systems allows to identify reactive power resources of each area to establish operational strategies in order to improve the control of the voltage in the system. The proposed methodology has been implemented to identify the ACV in the National Interconnected System of Ecuador.
