Abstract
The national operator of electricity - CENACE has as part of its tools for the process of monitoring the operation of the Ecuadorian electrical system a Monitoring Wide Area (WAMS), which one allows to observe real-time strategic information related to the oscillatory stability system. All this information from the WAMS system handles a large volume of information resulting from sampling the electrical variables with a resolution 60 samples per second obtained through 29 Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) that have been placed strategically in certain substations Interconnected National system (SNI). This information identifies some possible states of oscillation in real time and its consequent contribution to decision making at the operational level, and on the other hand can acquire knowledge through post mortem by an appropriate statistical treatment.
With this background through this work is intended to apply certain statistical criteria used for data analysis under a concept of Big Data; concepts that will implement a basis for statistical analysis with integration of multiple data sets from other sources such as the SCADA system, information search considering the time factor as a critical parameter for decision-making and feedback of the operation, and the use of large volumes of information as those obtained through the SCADA system and WAMs.
