Abstract

This article shows the development of an application capable of calculating the parameters of the transmission lines using measurements provided by the Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs). After a treatment of these measurements, the parameters of the transmission lines can be calculated with greater accuracy and precision. The application consists basically of two parts: the first, the acquisition and processing of Synchrophasors from the Wide Area Monitoring System (WAMS) of the “Operador Nacional de Electricidad – CENACE”, which in essence is a system based on the use of PMUs; and the second, the calculation of transmission line parameters, using a constrained least squares algorithm. Finally, the application in its developed interface shows the identified parameters of the transmission line both graphically and statistically, with the results, in this article the comparison is made with the data stored in PowerFactory of CENACE, a tool used for the analysis of electrical power systems characterizing reliable and flexible techniques of modeling and algorithms; in the same way with a work related to the identification of parameters of transmission lines, which in summary performs the identification of errors in parameters and looks for alternatives of calculation for the correction of the wrong parameters.
