Movilidad Eléctrica para Galápagos: Determinación de Parámetros Técnicos
Main Article Content
Abstract
One of the initiatives of the Ecuadorian government in energy efficiency is electric mobility, which implies changes in land transport systems, with the introduction of friendly environmental technologies.
Such measures are successful when the electricity production mix has an important renewable contribution. However, this is not the case of Galapagos Islands, where thermal provincial participation reached 84,24% (2015), while renewable energy obtained 15,67%, which makes energy planning mandatory.
This research is focused on this issue, which considers the assessment of the demand and supply of electricity and distribution systems in order to determine the allowed capacity of vehicles and electric motorcycles, at a short term, for their introduction in the Galapagos Islands until 2020.
Looking ahead, this measure will improve the quality of life of the population of the Galapagos, because transport is an important activity for its economy. But beyond that, the benefits for the environment will be evident by reducing CO2 emissions.
In order to fulfill such purpose, it is necessary to ensure that the technology available for users meets high levels of efficiency, this being the reason why this study establishes the permissible minimum parameters for vehicles and electric motorcycles in Galapagos.
