Producción más Limpia y Eficiencia Energética en una Industria de Lácteos

Abstract

Within the project of the Ecuadorian Center for Resources Effi ciency and Cleaner Production proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Productivity, in agreement with the United Nations Organization for Industrial Development (UNIDO) and the United Nations for the environment programme (UNEP), it was carried out the project “Cleaner Production and Energy Effi ciency in a Dairy Industry “ during the year 2014 with the purpose of analyzing and implementing improvement solutions by applying Cleaner Production with the methodology of UNIDO, where the opportunities for optimizing the use of electricity and decrease diesel consumption were identifi ed. It was applied the following methodologies: energy demand management and peak hours energy; steam pipe insulation; thermodynamic analysis for the condensed return in yoghurt-makers, marmite and pasteurizer; Thermodynamic evaluation of a refrigerating Chamber. It was possible to identify unitary operations where the parameters that characterize it from an economic, environmental and technological view is quantifi ed furthermore, improvements that impact on the effi cient use of electricity and diesel consumption were proposed. It was showed that with little investment it is obtained considerable annual savings in a short recovery period.
