Abstract

The application of the phasor technology offers new possibilities for monitoring, protection, analysis and control of Electric Power Systems (EPS). In this project, an algorithm is implemented to localize a failure using phasor data, which improves traditional methods. The implemented algorithm distinguishes responses of several linearized models against measurements mode during the transient response after the failure. Based on this, a Maximum Likelihood A-posteriori (MAP) detector is implemented, which uses statistical inference from several hypotheses to determine the probability of a failure from the measurements. The algorithm is implemented in the DPL software module PowerFactory DIgSILENT. The different experiments prove that the developed software is able to distinguish the most likely scenario from a list of possible scenarios. This work uses simulated- scenarios and PMU’s measurements.
