Electromagnetic Transients Analysis in the Interconnected National System (S.N.I.) at 230 kV and 500 kV voltage level using the real-time digital simulator HYPERsim
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper uses the Real Time Digital Simulator HYPERsim with the aim of modeling the 230 kV and 500 kV components of the National Interconnected System (SNI) in order to perform digital simulations in instantaneous values for analyzing switching electromagnetic transients (EMT). Based on this modeling, overvoltages caused by energization of transmission lines and transformers are then analyzed. For this aim, a methodology for modeling the SNI components is sketched based on a previous conceptual deployment of each power system element model. The development of this work becomes a fundamental tool for performing further electrical studies in HYPERsim that allow analyzing the transient behavior of the SNI. This aspect is even more significant considering that HYPERsim has not been previously used in Ecuador. Thus, a fully real time digital simulation is performed, which allow enhancing the potential of the models developed in this technical study, which will allow CENACE to carry out specialized studies of power systems, for example, relay calibration, design of protection schemes, controller tests, etc.
