Abstract

This is a review of applicable national and international standards for electric vehicles, to establish minimum requirements and technical parameters for the implementation of fast charging stations in the Galapagos Islands.

Based on the information of electrical energy production, vehicles demand and power demand in Galapagos, a simulation of Montecarlo is carried out, considering parameters such as hour of charge probability, battery charge percentage, and charging curves of existing electric vehicles on the islands, thus determining the required demand in two cases of study. The first, the replacement of diesel buses by electric buses; the second, the replacement of vehicles of the type: bus, SUV and sedan.

The analysis of the results from the Montecarlo simulation determines which of the study cases has a mayor impact in the maximum demand curve and the number of vehicles that cause it, for later determine the number of stations and chargers required by each station, in addition to the its location, considering the transit of the Galapagos Islands.
