Abstract

The purpose of this document is to make a characterization of the harmonics of the National Interconnected System (SNI) in Ecuador using as input signals the records of Phasor Measurement Units (PMU), and using software to perform univariate and multivariate statistical analysis. Statistical analysis is performed in order to obtain harmonic behavior of the system, allowing the formation of timely and geographic clusters. For the formation of clusters, it is necessary to obtain patterns containing the main features of the acquired data, and based on similarities between them, to perform the corresponding harmonic data clusters. Among the applied techniques, it is the Principal Component Analysis (data mining), since the requirement of processing huge amount of data caused by the small sampling rates of the synchrophasor measurement system.
