Abstract

The energy sector is one of the main actors in the production of greenhouse gases and, therefore, becomes the main sector to be intervened not only environmentally but also technically, a decarbonization process of the energy-producing segment contemplates the disconnection of conventional generation systems that use fossil fuels; in exchange for introducing renewable generation systems capable of meeting the demand that was previously supplied by conventional sources. This research provides a perspective to find decarbonization alternatives seeking to determine an adequate process to introduce renewable generation systems, considering economic factors of fuel spending and the cost of implementing the photovoltaic system. For this, simulations of the power system are carried out to determine the optimal power dispatch, in addition to a linear optimization model to minimize the costs on an annual basis through the optimal selection of the installed power of the renewable generation system. Simulations are performed using Matlab and PowerFactory with an IEEE 13-bar system as the test system.
