Estimación del Potencial de Producción de Hidrógeno a partir de Energía Solar Fotovoltaica en Ecuador
Main Article Content
Abstract
A preliminary assessment of electrolytic hydrogen that would be obtained using solar photovoltaic resource is made in Ecuador. The baseline information is the annual PV electricity generated in the mainland provinces and calculated by fi ltering information from Solar Atlas of Ecuador. It is obtained that Guayas province has the highest potential in generation, 8,73×108 kWh/year, and potential in production, 1,58×107 kg H2 /year. While the province of Loja has the highest density of production, 1,15 ton H2 /year/km2 . The total annual production of H2 for Ecuador is 2,55×108 kg H2 /year, with a density production of 1,03 ton H2 /year/km2 , equivalent to 9,85×108 liters of gasoline, and 8,5×108 of diesel, equal to 43 % and of 27 % of their imported volumes by Ecuador in 2013, and its potential use in fuel cell-powered vehicles would avoid the emission of 5,4×106 ton CO2 / year, contributing to its mitigation in the sector with the highest contribution to the country’s emissions. It is concluded that H2 production from PV in Ecuador, is a potentially attractive option and requires more detailed feasibility and viability studies.
