Methodology for Steady-State and Dynamic Modelling of S.N.I in HYPERsim, Application in the Electromagnetic Transient Analysis for 500 kV Systems
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper shows a well-detailed electrical modelling of the Ecuadorian Power System (S.N.I) in HYPERsim that is a real-time simulation platform. The model includes transmission lines, power transformers, reactors, capacitor banks, and the sets of generator – AVR – PSS for Coca Codo Sinclair (CCS) and Sopladora hydropower plants. Likewise, two methodological proposals for validating this electrical model, in steady and dynamic states, are presented. They are based on load flow analysis and control system responses of CCS and Sopladora power plants, respectively. The main contribution of this research is the potential usage of the electrical model for carrying out specialized studies, even including physical devices or real systems in HYPERsim owned by the Ecuadorian System Operator CENACE. For instance, an integration between this model with PMUs and the wide are measurement system (WAMS) of CENACE is planned in the medium-term, which lets to train power system operators under oscillatory instability scenarios in real time. Meanwhile, and as a first application, a brief study of electromagnetic transients during the switching of El Inga-Tisaleo-Chorrillos 500 kV transmission grid is detailed.
